Our AI principles
Five plain rules govern every AI feature in Alhora. They are not policy promises you have to take on trust — they are how the product is built.
Alhora's AI never writes your book.
Every AI feature in Alhora works on words you have already written. It checks your text, flags possible problems, and drafts suggestions for you to consider — always about your own sentences, never sentences of its own. There is no compose feature to switch on: not hidden behind a setting, not reserved for a higher plan. It does not exist.
You approve every change.
No suggestion enters your manuscript on its own. Each one is a separate accept-or-reject decision, and every accepted change is backed by a snapshot — so you can see exactly what changed and undo it at any time.
Your manuscript is never stored or used for training.
When you run an AI check, the relevant text is sent for that check and nothing else. Our servers keep counts — how many checks you have run — never the text itself. Your words are not retained, not logged, and never used to train any model.
What the AI did stays private to you.
Alhora keeps a local tally on your machine of what the AI flagged and what you approved, so you always know exactly what happened. Nothing about AI use is embedded in your exported books, and no one but you can see the record.
Alhora works fully without AI.
Every core feature — import, typesetting, validation, export, publishing — is complete with AI switched off. AI is an optional add-on you can turn on, ignore, or cancel at any time; the book-formatting tool underneath is the whole product, not a preview of one.
Assisted is not generated
The distinction matters when you publish. Some stores — Amazon KDP among them — require publishers to disclose AI-generated content, while AI-assisted editing of an author's own work is treated differently under their current guidelines. Alhora's AI features are designed to keep your book your work: every word is yours, and every suggestion the AI drafts is one you reviewed and approved before it touched the manuscript. Store policies are the stores' to set and they can change, so review the current policy of each store you publish on and decide how it applies to your book.
