01 · What you sell
Three ways to put a book on the shelf.
Every book starts as a private draft. It appears publicly only after you choose its visibility and publish — and publishing here never changes your manuscript.
Ebook
A cover, a description, a price and a prepared EPUB. Alhora handles the digital delivery; publish a replacement EPUB and future downloads get the new file.
Physical editions
Paperback, hardback or a special edition — each with its own price and delivery charge. You source the printed copies and send them; Alhora doesn't print, store or ship books.
Showcase
A book page and a reading sample, with no checkout and no payout set-up — for the book that's sold elsewhere, or not yet for sale.
Straight from the book
Connected to the manuscript.
Set up the book you have open and it stays connected: send its EPUB and covers across without choosing files. Your paperback price from Pricing, your launch day from the Launch plan and your Proof of Authorship certificate drop into the draft, ready to check and publish.
- Your wording stays yours. The shop description can differ from your manuscript metadata, and it doesn't change until you choose.
- Manage any book — with a manuscript open, or without one.
- Listed or not. Joining Alhora's directory is optional; a public page can be shared and found either way.
02 · Launch
Interest first, then orders.
A book page can be public before the book is ready to buy.
Coming soon
Your page shows "Coming soon" and takes no payments. Readers ask for an email alert and confirm their address.
Pre-order
Open physical editions for pre-order with an expected dispatch date. Readers pay now; you send the books on the day you planned.
On sale
When the book can be bought, everyone who asked is emailed automatically — and only then. Publishing the page alone doesn't send the alert.
Share it
Your page's link stays the same through every update. Alhora drafts an announcement for you to make sound like you, then paste into your own newsletter or post.
03 · Your readers
A list that's actually yours.
Add a signup form to your shop and book pages, or let readers opt in at checkout. Each one confirms their email before joining; existing opt-outs are kept, and exports carry unsubscribe and delivery status.
- Announcements from a starting message — an opening, an update, a new book — that you edit before sending. Every email carries the reader's own unsubscribe link.
- Tests go only to your verified address, and don't use your weekly allowance.
- Orders in one place: mark physical orders dispatched, refund in a click (which also ends ebook access), totals kept by currency.
04 · Author website
A home for your author story.
Your own hosted author website, with room for your story, photographs and links to your books. Start with a mood, then arrange the sections, hide one for later or add something new — and point it at your Bookshop when it's ready.
- Your address is made when you first publish, and stays the same as the page changes — put it on a bookmark, at an event or in a newsletter.
- The website and the Bookshop are published separately, and its look is separate from your own app theme.
05 · Money
Paid to you, not to us.
Payments go to your connected Stripe account. Alhora's fee and the payment provider's charges apply; physical delivery is priced by you, separately.

A paid plan to go live
Publishing, payments and reader emails come with any paid Alhora plan. Book pages and samples can go live without setting up payments.

Worth knowing
- Alhora doesn't print, supply, store or ship physical books. Printing, stock, packing and postage are yours to arrange.
- If paid access lapses, your shop stays visible and existing orders stay yours to manage; new checkout pauses until you renew.
- Ebooks aren't offered during physical pre-orders; their settings wait in your draft until you switch to On sale.
