Download Alhora
Version 1.31 — Free trial, no account required.
Alhora is new software from a small independent studio. Operating systems are cautious about programs they have not seen many times before — that caution is about how new it is, not about whether it is safe.
System requirements
- macOS: macOS 12 Monterey or later, Apple Silicon or Intel (64-bit)
- Windows: Windows 10 or later, 64-bit, 4 GB RAM minimum
- Linux: Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, or compatible distro, 64-bit (x86_64), 4 GB RAM minimum
- ChromeOS: Intel or AMD Chromebook with the Linux development environment turned on. ARM Chromebooks are not supported yet
- Disk space: 200 MB for application, additional space for project files
- Internet: Required for activation; works offline after sign-in
Installation
- macOS: Open the .dmg, drag Alhora to Applications, then open it. If prompted about an unidentified developer, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
- Windows: Run the .exe installer and follow the prompts. Windows Defender SmartScreen may show a warning — click More info → Run anyway.
- Linux: Make the .AppImage executable (
chmod +x Alhora.AppImage) then run it directly. - ChromeOS: Turn on Linux first (Settings → Advanced → Developers → Linux development environment). Then open the .deb from the Files app and choose Install with Linux. To open manuscripts kept in Downloads or Google Drive, right-click the folder in Files and choose Share with Linux.
