Everything in Alhora Working together

Never the only one in the room.

Bring a co-writer into the book, hand chapters to beta readers, send review copies and share the World with your illustrator — and stay the one who decides what changes.

  • Your copy stays yours
  • Suggest changes
  • Readers choose

01 · Live sessions

Invite someone into the book.

Invite someone you trust to work in this book with you. They get the real manuscript — and the only copy of it stays on your computer.

  1. Invite

Choose Invite and Alhora gives you a code and a link. Your guest joins from their own copy of Alhora.

  2. Choose how they write

Let guest edits land straight away, or choose Suggest changes: their edits stay separate until you accept them.

  3. Work side by side

Avatars show where everyone is working — one click takes you there. Pictures travel with the book.

  4. Decide

Accept or reject each suggestion from a word-by-word comparison. Decisions are saved with the book.

Built for the author

  • Guest edits go to your computer and come back when they land; nothing is written on the guest's machine.
  • Suggest changes covers text, paragraphs and formatting — chapters and document settings stay yours to change.
  • If a session drops before every edit is confirmed, the guest keeps a recovery copy to compare with you.
  • Words a guest writes in your book don't count in their own Stats — their writing is waiting when they leave.

02 · Notes in the margin

Talk about the words themselves.

Select words in Blocks or Prose and choose Leave a note. Every conversation in the book sits in one panel — search it by words, people or sections, and jump straight to the passage.

  • Comments are saved with your book and stay after collaborators leave.
  • If the words change, the conversation is kept and says so.

03 · Reading Room

Beta readers, without the email chain.

Send chosen chapters to a handful of readers and find out what an email round never tells you: which chapters they reached, where they stopped and what they went back to. Their notes come back into the editor, beside the paragraphs they're about.

  • Consent first. Every reader is told exactly what is measured — including that you can see their progress by name — and chooses before they see a word. Anyone who'd rather just read still gets the book and can leave notes.
  • Ask a real question. Every reader sees what you want them to look for before they start.
  • Private links, with or without Alhora's email — or a list of your ARC readers at once.

04 · Review copies

An ARC team, kept in the project.

Keep your advance readers' emails, notes and links in the project — Alhora never emails the list. Mark who accepted, then prepare a stamped EPUB for each, with the reader's name inside and hosted links that expire.

05 · Shared Worlds

One World, the whole team.

Collaborate on a hosted edition of your World with Alhora accounts. Shared changes stay in the hosted draft until you publish them.

  • Owner

Invites and revokes access, sets an expiry if you like, and is the only one who publishes.

  • Editor

Changes the shared draft. When two people edit the same passage, both versions are compared and you choose.

  • Reader

Reads the shared edition — its maps, entries and timeline — without changing it.

Local World files and private author notes stay on their author's device. More about World

06 · A press

A whole press, under one plan.

An organisation groups accounts under one press, with invite codes. Every seat gets the full Alhora app while the publisher plan is active, with your press name on exports, ARCs and publish checklists.
